DPReview TV: Canon EOS 90D and M6 Mark II Hands-On in Atlanta

By now, you’ve had plenty to read up on regarding Canon’s new APS-C cameras, the EOS 90D and EOS M6 Mark II – now it’s time to see them in action. DPReview TV’s Chris Niccolls teams up with Reviews Editor Carey Rose in Atlanta to see just what these two cameras are capable of at Michelin Raceway.

Special thanks to Levi Holwell for shooting this week’s episode in Atlanta, and DPReview Reviews Editor Carey Rose for co-hosting and dressing like an utter fool.

  1. Carrie Rose Levi and Chris Nichols thank you for a great video really appreciate you helping others and helping them decide what camera to buy I think you young men do a great job thank you ever so much Chris goodbye from Atlanta Georgia

  2. Strange that the cropped 4K looks better than the full frame 4K. Or, not strange, I guess… Since it’s Canon you’re only going to get supersampled 4K if you drop $6K to $40K on a Cinema EOS video camera. (No matter that Sony’s been offering supersampled 4K for 3 years on cameras under $1K, and now Nikon offers the same on their Z6 and Z7…and Panasonic, and Fuji. But Canon seems to live in its own imaginary world where competitors don’t matter.)

  3. I'm here for the jokes and the Larry cameo. Not a Canon guy, but lots of entertainment and useful stuff here as usual. Please keep up the good work !

  4. Hi guys!
Please, for the in depth review of the m6mkii, try the Canon adapter with efs and ef lenses to see if the autofocus works as good as native.
As we all know there isn't much m glass to choose from so adapting efs and ef lenses would be a must for me.
Also I would really like to see if Canon has finally improved their dynamic range and iso capabilities on this new sensor.

  5. I switched to Sony years ago so I wanted to see what development etc I missed and maybe regret my switch. But ähm no. Nothing to regret. Of course you can take great pictutes with that gear. But there are much better cameras out there…

  6. As a Canon guy (who does ZERO video, so it's not a factor), it's nice to see a review that doesn''t spend 90% of its time bashing Canon and comparing to "Sony" … if you're someone shooting high-speed targets like I do (aviation, airshows, military jets … and with 400mm to 500mm glass), the last thing I want is the "tiny trainwreck" of Sony ergonomics (my opinion, not saying they’re “bad”, just not for me).

  7. Good review, thanks. I have a 40D and a 7D, with several lens. I have not delved into video with the DSLR. I have a 90D on pre-order at BH. We'll see how it turns out.

  8. Reel was good, product canon put out took steps backward overall in my opinion. Come on Canon…really! I want the hat!!

  9. No 24p in 4K!!! Canon keeps on frustrating me big time. It shows me they don’t wanna sell cameras anymore. I’m glad I don’t have to change my 80D yet, but If I did, I would definitely jump off the Canon ship.

  10. The starting was crazy I can’t stop laughing because I’m turning 40 this year too the Canon 90D video quality is awesome that’s what I’m going for

  11. I went to a camera store to take a look at some of these "smaller" mirrorless cameras… Let's just say I don't give one flip about smaller anymore. I mean if you got tiny girl hands, ya you'll probably like the smaller body cameras, but I need the bigger grip like my 70D (and the new 90D) DSLR gives. The size and weight of the camera body is now officially the lamest criteria for choosing a camera in my book, as far as the "smaller is better" argument goes. LOL

  12. These are great entries but there's at least a couple huge downers: 1) the 4K is actually upscaled 1080 which explains why it's not sharp 2) these are both mounts with questionable futures in the long term. EF and EF-S are being replaced by RF and EF-M is a dead-end mount with no path to full frame. Canon has too many mounts so the future is very uncertain.

  13. Every time Canon releases a new camera, I always wonder what video feature they'll sabotage. This time it's the lack of 24p that kills it as a viable DSLR filmmaking camera. US distributors and major festivals won't accept a 25p or 30p film. Shaking my head.

  14. On the Canon USA website, on the specs it states both the 90D and M6 Mark II can output 10-bit 4:2:2 over HDMI? Could you guys confirm this? I didn’t see this mentioned elsewhere.

  15. What i can't understand about the 90D is why does the mirrorless camera have features that is does not? Why can't I add the same electronic viewfinder for example? Flip the mirror up into live view and it's a mirrorless camera…
